There's time I wish we had something to show ourselves over these things, so I wouldn't have to write anything. I am so bloody exhausted! I had an overnight shift, and I have yet to go home! It's half past three! I've been here for eighteen and a half hours. I can't wait for five o'clock, I get to go home and crawl into bed. I won't move for the rest of the evening. This is the last time I cover for someone else! Twenty-four hours is far too long. Atleast I've gotten a few breaks in, and all the coffee I can drink. I'm entirely too jittery now.

There's so much more I'd like to write about. But, my break is over, and this is the last (official) break before I go home. Merlin, I can't wait to go home.

Maybe one day there will be a way to show yourself. You could take a picture and spellotape it in.

I can't believe you've been working for almost 24 hours!! That's crazy, Astoria!

I was too tired to take a picture.

It is crazy. But when I complain I'm told that this happens from time to time. Ofcourse its only those of us who are training that end up awake the entire time. I've walked into the wrong room a couple times now and saw some sleeping. Sometimes, I'm entirely fed up with this place, and I've only been here a week and a half now! I don't think I was cut out for this time of work...

But then, there's a cild who's rushed in by a panicked parent and all that anger just melts away. There was a little boy who was rushed in with broken bones all over, not to mention a punctured lung. He couldn't have been any older than six years old. He had stolen his father's broom and no one was watching him. Considering the damage the fall had done to his body, he must have gotten pretty high. I actually got to watch them fix him. After that, I was glad to go home! I cried for the poor kid.

Now, I have to go back. I don't want to! But, I have to.

Oh, on a completely different topic. I have an urge to go clothes shopping tomorrow, would you like to get out of the house and go with me?

I'd love to go shopping with you, if you don't mind going out with a woman with purple hair! Can you believe my hair is still purple? George doesn't know when it will go away either!

That sounds really sad, about that poor boy. Those parents should keep their brooms locked away!

Maybe you could find a happier part of the hospital to work in? I know some parts are really horrible. I could never work there. But there are parts that are nicer. My friend Heidi is overseas at the moment, but she's studying to work in the maternity ward. How lovely would that be, delivering babies!

I don't mind! Honestly, I don't. It'll give us a chance to catch up, since I haven't gotten to talk to you in awhile. And the purple looks good. If not a little bright. You'll definitely be the center of attention.

I know! Someone needs to look in on them. The parents were being far to neglectful! But, I can't judge them. I must remain neutral to the situation. No matter how much I want to smack his parents, I have to smile and play nice. Sometimes I hate working with the public.

It seems the children that come through here have a stronger effect on me. Once I get through with my training here, I was thinking about moving to a different part. I couldn't decide between the maternity ward or pediactrics. As much as the blood and.. mess of delivery turns me off, the idea of holding a baby as it takes that first breath of life, well that does sound amazing. Its something I'll have to think long and hard on.

I'm looking forward to it!

Could you maybe report them to the Ministry or is that being too harsh? Maybe it was an honest to god accident. How could you ever know though? That must be so hard to figure out.

I think that would be amazing. And you'd be dealing with happy excited people instead of scared, anxious people. Well, actually I'm sure some of the people having a baby might be scared and anxious too but you're more likely to have a better outcome than in a ward where people or kids are getting hurt.

Me too!

I would if there was actual proof. Like you said, its hard to figure out.

I agree, it would be better than working where I am currently. I can only imagine what's in store with the DeathEaters roaming around. I think I'd like to be somewhere where I won't have to look into the faces of the dying and know there's no way I can save them.

You don't even need spellotape actually. Attaching photos into the journal is kind of a simple charm... but I don't think it would work for what Astoria has in mind. I'm thinking she's more wanting like a video so she can just talk to others straight through the journal without having to write or anything.

And... sorry.

What's a video? That sounds really weird, being able to talk through the journal without writing.

It's... a muggle thing. It's hard to explain. Basically it's like a moving photograph? Except the real person can be seen through it instead of a charmed doppleganger?

So you get trapped in a photograph? That sounds ghastly! Why would anyone want to do such a thing?
